The Price for Intimacy.

Have you ever read the Bible and just said to yourself, I love the relationship between David and God. Well  I have and I have concluded that one of the main reasons why he had this beautiful relationship with God was because he had a personal revelation of who God is. The bible even refereed to David as a man after Gods heart “Acts 13 vs 22; After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’

God wants to have an intimate relationship with us, He has made that clear in his word, He wants us to know him and you cannot know God by, just  going to church and by relying on what your pastor tells you on Sundays. You have to CONSISTENTLY seek Him with all of your heart because it is only then, that you will find Him “Deuteronomy 4 vs 29 ;But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul”.

Yes God can hide himself sometimes, Psalm 88 vs 14;O LORD, why do You reject my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me?  But what matters is how desperate you are to know Him, David was very persistent ( You can tell i like David LOL) God would never leave those who put their trust in Him and those who seek him “Psalm 9 vs 10 ;And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you”.

I would briefly talk about 2 things that are important if you want to have intimacy with God,

  • Intimacy requires you spending time with God, this includes the good and the bad times. Prayer is very important folks, prayer is more than “quiet time”. God wants us to talk to him all through the day not just that one hour that you have set aside. I read this quote the other day by Smith Wigglesworth ” I do not often spend more than half an hour in prayer at one time, but i never go more than half an hour with out praying” . I think it is important to set time aside for God but as your day goes on, constantly speak to the Holy Spirit.

The more you spend time with Him the more you look like Him and the more you understand Him. Rome was not built in a day so don’t expect to do this once and everything would be perfect, it takes consistency and God will honor your efforts, there is no point moaning about it, if you are not consistent at all and you pray on Sundays only, how can you get to know him, Jesus clearly said “But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” Matthew 6 vs 6. Don’t wait till you are in church or till you are surrounded by people, how you pray in the secret place is very important. And to those of us that like to compare, can i just say, face your walk with God do not look at anybody else, not everything is the way it seems.

  • Living a lifestyle of worship, yes ohhh Worship is a life style, it is more than a song. It is not an event or a concert everything that we do should be pleasing to God, is God pleased with your day to day activities, do these activities glorify him. living a lifestyle of worship requires sacrifice, Romans 12 vs 1; Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Let me be extra, do you worship God with your thoughts???? All these things matter, you have to say to NO to a bunch of stuff to keep your relationship with God going, TV shows, music, Events, toxic relationships, and can i say for some of us, these things might be what is hindering us from getting to that place that we have always wanted to be, in our walk with Christ. You have to do whatever it takes to guard your heart, Proverbs 4 vs 23; Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

So this week i encourage you to take that bold step and do whatever you have to do to know God, i promise you it would be worth it. Apologies it took me a minute to post this, but i hope you were blessed. Leave your comments, share, send me a message, ask questions :-).

Love always,

Jen x
