Body positivity is unlearning the idea that only certain bodies are worth acceptance and praise, and instead recognizing that all bodies are equally valuable.
I love this definition that I found online of body positivity. I thought it would be best to address “Body positivity” before doing a post on “Body types and what to wear”.
I am not afraid to admit that I have felt some way about my body at one point and I will be honest I still do sometimes. This blog post is mainly to challenge your thinking and to also bring to light subtle paradigms that are plainly wrong.
There is no such thing as the most acceptable body type or shape, that notion is wrong. We are all beautiful in our own way and we are certainly not meant to look the same. Being happy with your body starts from within, this is why I often question people when they think doing surgery will fix all their insecurities. The problem is on the inside and until that is fixed nothing changes.
There is soo much more to us as people than our outward appearance, dare I say that the inward appearance is soo much more important than what’s on the outside. So be kind to yourself, in your words, your thoughts and even down to what you eat. Get rid of bad habits such as speaking negatively about your body. Stop comparing your body to someone else’s, it’s not fair at all because we are genetically made up of differently so, it doesn’t make sense to compare.
Also wear outfits that compliment your body type. I think this is very important to do this, I will do a post on different body types and suggestion of outfits. Believe it or not, but wearing outfits that make you look good would make you feel good about yourself and also very confident.
I will leave you with some verses that I constantly speak over myself/remind myself, the bible says to meditate day and night on Gods word. This is because we are constantly bombarded with soo much information daily (e.g social media) and it’s easy to forget that yes we are in this world but we are not of it. We must constantly pray, ask God to search our hearts 💕 and renew our minds.
Proverbs 23vs 7a :For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
Psalm 139 vs 14: I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
1 Peter 3 vs 3-4 :Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
